Christos Metios
Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Mr. Metios was born in 1968 in Komotini, Greece.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Statistics and Business Research from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Ηe was elected Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace in October 2016.
From 2014 to 2016 he was Deputy Governor for the Regional Unit of Rodopi.
From 2006 to 2014 he was a member of the Komotini City Council. He served as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and as Deputy Mayor for Technical Services. He also served as President of the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Service of the city of Komotini.
From 1998 to 2002 he was a member of the Rodopi Prefectural Council.
In April 2016, during the 10th national convention of New Democracy, he was elected member of the party’s Political Committee.
During his studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he was a member of New Democracy’s student organization ΔΑΠ-ΝΔΦΚ and served as head of the organization in Thessaloniki. At the same time, he was the President of the Student Government of the Faculty of Mathematics, a member of the University Senate and a member of both the Central Council of the Greek National Students Association and the Students Association of the Aristotle University.
For many years he has worked as a mathematics instructor and also for his family business in Rodopi.
He is married and father of one daughter.
